One of the bigger days of the sports season at the Enquirer is National Signing Day.
High school football is huge in this area and we like to think we give it the best coverage in the area.
And college football is even bigger nationally and while we don't do a lot locally with college football, this is our chance to connect the two.
National Signing Day is Wednesday and in the Battle Creek area this moment has its ups and downs in terms of importance. That is usually based on how many Division I prospects we get. In past years we've had quarterbacks sign with Notre Dame and defensive tackles go to the Big Ten.
It is kind of a mediocre day this year with John Deyo of Gull Lake going to Michigan State and several other athletes heading to Division II schools. But there always can be some surprises on signing day and that may be the case this year.
We also try to get as much info about the state schools in the paper about signing day and we will do that again also.
An added extra this year is on our online site where you can see the Catch 22 feature, created by the Lansing State Journal, listing the top prospects in the area.
