In case you didn't follow every hour of coverage, here is some interesting draft tidbits.
Drew Stanton is staying close to home.
Tomorrow is the NFL draft, personally one of my favorite sporting events of the year. I don't know why exactly; the coverage is endless and boring, Mel Kiper's hair is incredibly distracting, I don't know half the players that get picked, and I forget them by the next day anyway.
I wonder what's going through the mind of Drew Stanton this week? Multiple draft prospectus have him going anywhere from first to fifth round. It must be a nerve-wrecking scenario, but regardless of where Drew goes, he has to be comfortable with the fact that mega-agent Drew Rosenhaus will get him as much money as humanly possible.
I was very impressed with the turnout at the Green and White spring football game yesterday until I was watching SportsCenter and saw Alabama filled their entire stadium of 90,000+
Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr., and Daequan Cook are all expected to announce today that they are entering the NBA draft.
It's not news anymore that Coach Joanne P. McCallie is the new women's basketball coach at Duke. While that is surprising, I'm even more surprised by the McCallie bashing on this Web site and others.
McCallie had a terrific job opportunity at one of the best programs in the nation, in one of the best conferences in the nation. (I love MSU and the Big Ten, but c'mon.) She would have been foolish to ignore it.
Instead of ganging up on the coach, let's recognize what she's meant to the MSU women's basketball program:
2005 national champion runner-up
One first-round WNBA draft pick
One second-round WNBA draft pick
Big Ten regular season and tournament titles
Record attendance the past few years
Breslin as a host site for the 2007 NCAA tournament.
She's leaving the MSU program in better shape than she found it. I, for one, am happy for her.
It's official, Joanne McCallie is now the former MSU Women's basketball head coach.
This is getting a little old. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if McCallie leaves for Duke. But as a Spartan fan I would take it as a total slap in the face considering the fact that, well.... its Duke!
It's official! We can now welcome 6-foot-8 215-pound hoops phenom Delvon Roe to the Spartan family.
