NBA?

Anybody paying attention to the NBA playoffs?

I'm not really.  I know which teams are winning their series, but I basically never get to watch any of the games.

So I could be wrong, but I believe that Mo Pete is the only former Spartan who still has a chance to get an NBA championship this year.

Got me thinking:  Which former Spartan has the best chance to win a title first?  And who was the last former Spartan to win a championship?

Comments

I believe Steve Smith was the last one with the Spurs a few years ago. I would bet on Mo Pete to be the first one, although I am not convinced it will be this year. Ager almost did with the Mav's. In all honesty, it will probably be one of them as a role player on reserve. That would be my guess.

Jon

As a resident in the Northwest, I am no longer willing to watch the NBA. David Stern has insulted the fans of the Sonics, blackmailed Seattle, and not honored the leases signed by the Sonics.

The NBA asks for the fans loyalty, raises prices, runs a business that cannot make money without government subsidies, and then turns their backs when the Cities ask for the NBA to honor their end of the deals.

No more NBA for me, only NCAA.

The next Spartans to win a championship are all on the current roster, and will win the NCAA championship next year!

Mo Pete get ones first, hands down. I would not be surprised to see Drew get one though. I see him catching on with a team and filling a Vinnie (The Microwave) Johnson role, undersized but strong, can shoot from anywhere in spurts and is a great TEAM guy.

I think that Shannon Brown with the Cavaliers has a pretty good chance if they can get through the Celtics and eventually Pistons. However the Western Confrence has many powerhouse teams so I don't really know.

Shannon Brown got traded to the Bulls so he'll win NBA title next year with Izzo coaching the team (Neiltzel will be the Bull's sixth man, Paul Davis the starting center).
In all seriousness, I love NCAA and March Madness but I do watch a lot of NBA playoff games (and not just the Pistons). The quality of play is so good, you don't see any ugly 25 turnover games.
Mo Pete won't get a ring this year, N.O. will beat S.A. but then lose to the Lakers.
It is total bunk what David Stern did to Seattle though. It's time for a new comish, he's starting to act like Castro.

I follow the MSU debate team more than the NBA playoffs.

Mo Pete fo sho.
The Hoe-nets will go all da way

Why has everyone forgotten about Eric Snow? The Cavs have just as good a chance as anyone. They will just need to win one in Boston, and let the Celtics continue to be haunted on the road.

Basketball is "out of season" for
me right now, remember when it used to be a "winter" sport?
Now with this long drawn out playoff system it seems to drag
on till almost the first day of
summer before it is over. Not all
that interested as you can see.

Association playoffs display basketball at its highest form...

Eric Snow is injured and possibly done for his career.

Too bad about Seattle. I feel for you.

I live in San Diego, which makes up for a lot of things. It doesn't make up for Donald Bozo Sterling, though. I've had no interest in the NBA since the moron pranced onto the court with his glass of White Zinfandel and swore how much he loved San Diego and 6 months later moved the team to Analheim.

Be grateful for the Pistons, win or lose.

Well here's something I'll whip out to stick on a boring thread, since I just ran into it again. One of my favorite all-time anti-scUM quotes:

"It always makes me extremely happy to see Michigan lose, I love to see their fans and players crying, biggest lot of douche bags on the planet. They always feel so entitled and that they deserve to win, well guess what YOU DIDN'T!!!" http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?p=3731388#post3731388

What I especially enjoy about that quote (on top of the mad Willy Wonka energy) is the person who posted it isn't a State fan, nor a Notre Dame (the team scUM lost to) fan, but rather a Michigan Tech fan! A school that has no natural rivalry with Michigan in any sport, including hockey (different conference)!

Of course, the last former Spartan to win a Championship was Plaxico Burress. Since I assume it was meant in hoops, Steve Smith is only half right. Kevin Willis was on that same Spurs team as Smith. As for the next former Spartan, it very well may be MoPete, but I am not sure of that.
