Bowling with Bulldogs
It's finally time for bowl game predictions.
The Spartan seniors have one more chance to show what they can do at the next level or make up for last year's performance.
Of course I'm talking about Ringer and Hoyer, who should both be ready to play the best games of their careers.
The match-up between Ringer and Moreno could affect how the scouts rate them for the NFL draft, and if Javon appears to be the better runner it will help his stock.
As for Hoyer, who doesn't have to worry much about the next level, he needs to finish his career on a high note and make up for all of the criticisms he's received over the last few years. An interception free game with a touchdown or two will go along away for improving his standing with MSU fans for the rest of his life. And a win would be just fantastic.
So what are the Spartan's chances? The Bulldogs have a lot of talent, including arguably the nation's best qb and rb. They were ranked #1 at the beginning of the season. They expected much more than the Capital One Bowl. Will they be motivated and run us off the field? Or will they be lethargic and allow us to push them around?
I don't hold out much hope for a victory tomorrow, but do think it's possible. If the offense can be a little creative in spreading the ball around, perhaps Ringer can get good numbers, and Hoyer some decent numbers and maybe we can hang with the Bulldogs for a while. But I'm afraid this will be another instance of a glaring difference in talent a la the OSU and PSU games. Make it Georgia 32 MSU 20, in a reasonably close game.
In any event it's been a good year with an overachieving team that has a lot to look forward to next season and beyond (we'll talk about that later). What are your bowl game thoughts and predictions?
