Bon Ton Roule!

Well, Selection Sunday and the start of the NCAA  Tournament are about three weeks away.  I know for me, and I'm sure many of you, this is the most exciting time of the year.  Since both the ladies' and men's teams seem "safe" bets for invites, it's not too early to talk about where they will play and possible opponents.

First the ladies.  When they get in the tournament, they will probably be selected as a 7, 8 or 9 seed playing at Breslin.  Since there are 16 first-round sites in the ladies' tournament, only four teams will be playing in East Lansing with a double header the first day, and a single game the second day.  The lone survivor will advance to a regional site.  Since quite a few of the top ranked teams are not hosting this year, the odds are very good that the ladies could be playing one of the elite teams for their second-round game (assuming they advance, of course).  This could include Baylor, Duke or North Carolina.  The possible return of Coach P. to East Lansing could turn out to be one fantastic story line.  To quote Judy Tenuta:  "It could happen"!

As for the men, win the regular season title and have a good showing in Indy, and a #2 seed seems likely.  It doesn't really matter at this time which region they will be in or who the #1 seed will be.  The four #1's will be about equal in talent, and it will take a perfect game for the Spartans (again, assuming they advance) to advance to Detroit.  If everyone is healthy at that time and the chemistry starts to click in, this is not out of the realm of possibility.

Any opinions out there concerning the ladies' or men's chances, or possible opponents?
