Mr. Larrimer:
You are correct that the film, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is quite a bit different and far more commercialized than the Douglas Adams' novel. Such is the sad case most times when books are churned and turned out to the general public as a movie. The same thing happened with "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Though the film followed the plot line rather closely and director Terry Gilliam did a nice job maintaining authenticity, some of Thompson's thoughts in the book more directly convey the
Still, I still think that the "Hitchhiker's..." holds quite a bit of relevance to Counterculturalists, with its heavy involvement in the ideas of the "meaning of life" and heavy-minded philosophy of that ilk. And also for its humor.
I made that list based off of films that I have noticed come up in many casual conversations among Counterculturalists (I spend a lot of time in those circles). I then picked my personal favorites.
I plan to come up with a list of the top 5 Countercultural books, within a week. Keep an eye out for it.
What would your top 5 Countercultural movies or bands be? Post a comment or send an email to jhinkley@battlecr.gannett.com and let me know.
The problem with this scenario is that if he broke in to do bodily injury, there is nothing to scare.

"I made that list based off of films that I have noticed come up in many casual conversations among Counterculturalists."
Dude, that is just bad research. Interviews are fine, but you have to do other research as well. I'm sure you learned this in college.
You have to site more than one source.
Also, just because a person is a Counterculturalists, doesn't make them a film expert.
"counterculture is a term used to describe a cultural group whose values and norms are at odds with those of the social mainstream, the cultural equivalent of political opposition." - Wikipedia
I know a lot more mainstream people who liked this film more than Counterculturalists, so Ben Larrimer is right.
I was also wondering if you site your sources are, and what are their expertise in film.
Lastly, Mr. Hinkley, I would like to give you credit for setting up this blog. As a native of Battle Creek, I believe Battle Creek in general lacks any culture, and is apathetic to nurturing better a better community for everyone. Thanks Mr. Hinkley for being openminded. :)
