Happy New year to all.
If I may be bold enough to suggest a resolution for 2010 for all of us it would be this:
Make an extra effort to listen patiently to someone whose political views are significantly different than yours. It’s not a bad thing to have a difference of opinion, but it’s horrible for a democratic republic to have a populace unwilling to consider any view that deviates from their own.
You don’t have to agree on everything. But if we all broaden our perspectives a bit, we will have a stronger grasp of key public issues.
Plus, it’s easier to win an argument if you know, in detail, your opposition’s views and ideas.
