Via Matt Yglesias’ blog, I stumbled across two House bills filed to completely repeal the health-care reform legislation. They aren’t receiving the support many in mid-Michigan might expect.
In fact, of the three Republican congressmen whose districts cover part of mid-Michigan (Mike Rogers, Dave Camp and Vern Ehlers), none have signed on as a co-sponsor to HR 4903 or 4972.

Rep. Michelle Bachmann’s 4903 has 54 co-sponsors, including Michigan’s Candice Miller and Fred Upton. Rep. Steve King’’s 4972 has 63 co-sponsors, including Michigan’s Pete Hoekstra and Miller again.
We all know that “ObamaCare” was a Democratic bill, so it’s strange that repeal measures are drawing only about one-third support among the House Republican caucus.
What would be the downside right now for any Republican to be a co-sponsor of a health-care repeal plan?
