Summer Rising

With tomatoes and cucumbers ripening, fall cabbage in the ground and pumpkins on the vine, the height of summer is close at hand.  Be sure to pick beans and cukes frequently to keep plants productive--if critters are harassing your tomatoes, pick them just before full ripeness and let them finish ripening inside by a window.

Thanks to Paul for the tomato plants that produced these heirloom beauties...I planted about seven different varieties and some seem somewhat recognizable...yellow Romas, purple Cherokees.  Tonight I added half a dozen to some sauteed onions and garlic with plenty of herbs and spices (and some honey, cayenne, and vodka...) for a simple sauce of the socks, knock yours off variety.
