Pumpkins from a local farm are abundant with their benefits as compostable garden ammendments, delicious pie fillings, seed snack sources and jack-o-lantern inspirations. Our young experts display some nice specimens.

Pie pumpkins are usually only a bit more expensive than festive field pumpkins, and both will yield yummy seeds. All your pumpkin scraps--especially wilted jack-o-lanterns-- are rich additions to food and flower gardens. You can even plant right in them! Pumpkins (eaten as dried squash) along with mindamin (maize) and beans are the Three Sisters that have sustained Michigan's native peoples
