Goodbye to a good man
One of the nicest men in politics, former Rep. Tom Meyer (R-Bad Axe), died today at the age of 65.
Meyer was a radio broadcasting legend in the Thumb, an area he represented for six years until term limits forced him out of office last year.
He could always be counted on to talk openly and honestly with the media, though politics was clearly not his first love. I remember his eyes lighting up when he talked about calling high school football games back home.
In August 2006, I remember Meyer talking about how much he was looking forward to getting back to calling high school football, just him, a microphone and the Friday night lights.
Unfortunately, he didn't get that chance. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Meyer was one of the most decent people in politics, and he'll be missed.
