The waiting game

I'm on elections tonight, so I'll be in from 4 p.m. until whenever, watching the results come in. But this calm before the storm, the time between this morning and the results this evening - stinks.

The waiting game is always my least favorite bit of elections.

I love voting, obviously. I love prognosticating, watching the returns come in, prognosticating some more, seeing the results and watching what happens next. As a political junkie, it's all you can ask for.

But the time on election day after the polls open, once you've voted until waiting for the results just kills for someone who thrives on up-to-the-second information.

Anyhow, I'm soothing my itch by reminding myself that we'll get the results back tonight. Just a few more hours.

All we have to do is wait...

Alright, I couldn't resist...

Turnout in Indiana and N.C. is monstrous. In Carolina, I've got to believe that helps Barack Obama, but in Indiana, I'm not sure one way or the other. I'm open to arguments both ways. We shall see.

Isn't it a crime to prognosticate in Michigan?? :o)

Just cast my ballot in Lee County, North Carolina, Precinct D2. 800 people had already voted ahead of me, in a county where 5,000 people early voted out of 28,000 eligible voters. The post 5 p.m. rush hadn't even started yet.

Lee County is in the 2nd Congressional District just south of Raleigh and the Research Triangle.

It's only a crime to prognosticate in public, such as in a library, or to prognosticate in front of young children.

Two or more healthy adults enjoy mutual prognostication as part of foreplay prior to presaging, auguring, or whatever prognostic position they prefer.

Some male prognosticators have their foreshadowing intact, while others have had it cut short. Similarly, some female prognosticators prefer full foreshadwing, others prefer it minimized.

Something for prognosticators to be careful about is premature soothsaying. You may leave your partner feeling empty if you say sooth too soon. Some women say sooth when they haven't even soothsaid yet. This helps the male prognosticator to feel more confident about his prognostication skills, which in turn via self-fulfilled prophecy can improve his prognostication habits.
