Capitol Hell: Michigan among worst states to govern

No one ever said Gov. Jennifer Granholm has an easy job. As far as governorships go, it turns out to be among the toughest in the nation.

A recent article in Politico.com named Michigan as one of the “worst states to govern,” partly because of its skyrocketing unemployment and faltering auto industry. The article also names deficit-plagued California and Illinois, with its recent Rod Blogojevich scandal, as troubled states to govern.

"Though many of the economic forces may be out of her control, the problem rests on the shoulders of Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat, who has been forced to make emergency budget cuts to keep the state running," the article states. "As a result, Granholm has been floating some unusual solutions to make ends meet, including offering to house prisoners from California in Michigan facilities - for a price, of course."

One thing is to be said for Granholm. When the going gets tough, she doesn’t up and quit, like, say, another female governor of a far northern state.

Sarah Palin is just plain flaky.

Her "I'm a fighter not a quitter"
is going to come back on her in a
negative way if she ever runs
political office again.

I would not be surprised if Granholm were on anti-depressents
right now. While she has not quit
I'm sure she would not have hesitated to take the Supreme
Court position if it were offered
to her and I wouldn't have blamed
her a bit for doing so.

Palin just got tired of all the B.S.
being thrown around. Granholm has been very quiet since the drunks at the Capitol started their summer recess. I'm surprised she hasn't been more vocal about the MSP headquarters that ( hopefully) won't get funded.

It's a good feeling knowing that Gov. Granholm won't give up when it comes to destorying our state.

If we only knew what she meant when she said we were going to be blown away.

Hey Mr. Davis giving cover to Granholm by bashing Palin only works for the cool-aid drinkers.

RTD sounds like a bitter person that can't see the forest for the trees.
This state has been ravaged by forces that are out of the control of government. I'm not saying that our Governor is perfect, and that she hasn't made mistakes. I am saying that constructive ideas are a lot better that hateful, knee-jerk, blind vindictiveness.
