Spring-Time Action
Spring is here, Summer is right around the corner, and that means lots of great weather to get outside in. I'm entering Week #9 of my triathlon training, and many friends and family have inquired regarding my sanity for entering such an event for fun. But you don't have to do a triathlon to get out and get fit.
Running has long been accused of ruining knees and causing unnecessary stress on joints and ligaments, but new research is coming to light that suggests otherwise. Stop using those outdated ideas as an excuse, and hit the trails or pavement. I remember very clearly my goal of running for 5 minutes straight- it was only last summer- and now I log 2 miles at a time. We all start somewhere, and you can go to the FREE running clinic at Playmakers in East Lansing to get you started on the right foot.
Cycling is one of my favorite ways to enjoy great weather, and even a slow cruise is better than sitting on the couch. Michigan has fickle summer weather, so if it's nice out, you should enjoy it under the sky, not in air-conditioning. Simply breathing fresh air has been proven to keep you healthier, and burning a few calories while you do it is a bonus. So many other options exist that are free or extremely cheap- and now is the best time to start a new habit of healthy exercise. Gardening, yardwork, walking, hiking, swimming, and more all are available to us in the Lansing area- you just have to get motivated and stick to it.
That's amazing to read these disucssions here, very helpful indeed, and thanks to experts who are sharing their thoughts here, and we hope to read more here in further. it is good to read this article thanks for sharing it here...
