If the Shoe Fits...Find a Coupon First!

My next fitness goal is to run the Capital City River Run 1/2 Marathon this September. Just like when I was training for my triathlon, I'm being enticed by new slick gadgets, clothing, and shoes that are pretty convincing that if used, they will help me run faster and look better doing it, too.

Earlier this week I tried out a pair of Mizuno Prophecy shoes, a brand new design from the company that claims the shoe was 'in development for 7 years'. I was given the opportunity to try some out on a 5K run, and I thought they were fine enough, so when I got home I looked them up online, then had to recover from a bit of sticker shock- the shoes are retailing at $200!! Yikes! Yeah right! I thought, but the longer the week went on, the more I became obsessed with those Prophecies.

Now I am scouring the web for coupons or discount codes I can use to drop the shoes' price down to a less obscene level. W The Mizuno Prophecy- a sight to behold, indeed.
as it an effective marketing gimmick, or a truly well-fitted and efficient piece of equipment that will help me reach my fitness goals by offering me more comfort and safety while pounding the pavement? Hard to tell. By the time I figure it out, I just might have a pair strapped to my feet, despite every fiber of my cheap-skate self being in total revolt.

I totally agree that good equipment is very important to achieve good results especially when it comes to foot wear. Good luck with dropping the price and I always thought that the prices for well known brands are over inflated.
