Change of Scenery
This time of year I always sart to feel a little pent-up, a little sick of the grey, a little expectant. Even though real winter weather has only been here for a few weeks, I'm still starting to crave the early Spring, the sun, and not having to wear 15 layers to get anything done. So I decided to go to Iowa.
I know, Iowa isn't exactly the Caribbean beach I was envisoning when I thought, "I need a change of scenery," but I'll take what I can get. Last summer I paddled in Lansing's Dragon Boat races (and my team won, just sayin') and to keep the Dragon Boat ball rolling, some members of our team have decided to head westward to catch some tips from the pros in the American Dragon Boat Association. We'll be paddling in a giant pool alongside serious Dragon Boaters, and having a blast I'm sure.
Things start to feel a little stagnant for me around February, so this year I decided to give myself a little boost of creativity and energy by getting the heck out of Lansing, even it it's just trading an overcast sky for another overcast sky. It helps me clear my head a bit, so I can focus on all the Spring planning, planting, and fun I'll be getting into.
