Fire works for " Shore "

Lugnuts  Dragons

In my last blog I bragged about the Lugnuts. I want to continue that subject and let you know that this Saturday after the game they are having fireworks sponsored by LAFCU. It doesn't get much better than that! Sit back and watch the Lugnuts battle the Dayton Dragons, enjoy watching the craziness of Jersey Shore Night Jersey   and then top it off with fireworks!  Fireworks

Jersey  Now, I will be honest, the idea of Jersey Shore is more amusing than cool to me because, lets be honest, if I want to see some of the greatest people I'm not going to Jersey... I'm looking right here! But when your talking about looking at crazy tans, big hair and guys with too much time on their hands it's going to be fun to watch.

The weather is looking to be an awesome 85 so look back to the blog a few weeks ago called summer in full swing for tips on how to be safe.

I'm hoping that Luggie and the team pull another big W for Lansing! See you there!

Take me out to the ball game.

Lugs
Lansing’s own baseball team has been entertaining fans for over 14 seasons now. Have you been to a game this season? No? Well you better hurry, the season’s almost over!

Going to a Lugnuts game is more than just baseball. You’ve got Live Concerts, Thirsty Thursdays, Fireworks, and best of all, Kids BIG_LUG_silo   Days every Sunday! Coming up on August 29th is Super Hero Day! Kids get to play on inflatables, eat for free and run the bases at the end of the game!

Luggie  Check out the schedule, get your tickets and I’ll see you there!

This weekend in... Lansing?

Mint 3

Normally I am losing my mind about the great things that are happening in Lansing! But today I’m going to take you just outside of Lansing for something that makes Lansing awesome! Its the  St. Johns Mint Festival going on all weekend.

Mint 4  I have been a fan of mint since I was a kid and went to Fenner Arboretum and learned about all the things that people do with mint. It smells delicious and tastes great and has a great looking square stem. I know, I know, I’m crazy about mint, but there are other reasons that I like it. The biggest is that St. Johns has had some trouble in the past with not generating enough money and having enough jobs for their growing community and the mint along with the festival has brought a lot of great things back to St. Johns.  Mint

Now how does this tie into Lansing? Because every year lots and lots of Lansing businesses go out to not only support the local festival but some actually become part of it. Years ago while working for Lowe’s I was sent out to hold classes for people on different projects for their houses. Lowe’s did not at the time have a store in St. Johns but was willing to go out any way. I really admire that. I like that even though St. Johns is not Lansing there are a number of people and companies in Lansing that support the beautiful city.

Mint 2  So what kinds of great things can you expect to see at this yearly event? Well... (taking in a BIG breath), laser tag, hot air balloons, car shows, dog shows, pudding eating contest, bocce ball, petting zoo, arts and crafts, pony rides, face painting and much, much, MUCH more!

When should you go down? 2pm Friday is my suggestion!

Let the festivities BEGIN! See you there!

Sounds GREAT!

Jazz 4

That smooth jazz dancing from one building to the next. Kissing each historic structure in Old Town and then gently but purposefully filling your head full of amazing sound! It's JazzFest 2010. That in it self is reason to celebrate, but wait, there's more! Its free! Thats right, free. This is the 16th annual JazzFest in very scenic Old Town.
  Jazz 5

There will be vendors there with great food and wonderful artistic creations for everyone. And for those that enjoy something frosty cold with a little kick there is a adult beverage tent too.

Jazz  There is always some free seating but when you talk about over 1200 people showing up to hear great music and have fun in a beautiful place it goes quick! So bring a chair, bring a few and invite some friends and the kids too. See you there!

The festivities start at 4pm today August 6th and resume tomorrow at 1pm. Its going to be great. Jazz 2

Going to the county fair.

 county
The Ingham County Fair is a staple of the community. This year, the fair runs from August 2nd through August 7th but I bring it to your attention because today is a special day for special people.

On Wednesday, August 4, 2010, the Ingham County Fair Board, with the help of Skerbeck Brothers Carnival, invites the physically and mentally challenged people of our community to participate in a fun filled day at the Fair!

What a great way to bring all of the community together.  County 2

Then at 7pm this evening they are having a figure 8 demo derby! I have loved these since I was a kid. Just senseless crashing of cars and the thrill of what’s next!

So what else is there to enjoy???? Carnival rides, pony rides, petting zoo, chain saw wood carving and much, much more! See you there! County 3
