Final Film!

    • Today marks the end or the beginning, depending on how you look at it.

Today is the last day of this marvelous celebration of films. However, throughout the days past there is no doubt that there have been thoughts ignited about films waiting to be created. Films on love or loss. Films on creation or demise. Films on aliens who like to eat the earths mud and breath out something that fixes the planet... OK that last one maybe not so much but I'm sure next years films are going to be exceptional.

Things start off this evening appropriately at the LCC 3D Theater in the Gannon Building. After viewing more tremendous works things will move to the Lansing Public Media Center at the Washington Street Armory. This is where the evening will end for those who aren't directly involved or holding a pass.

One of the biggest things that I am looking forward to is the Prima Civitas "I Love Michigan" video screening and awards. What a fabulous thing to be apart of!

At the end of it all there will be a beginning. A beginning of new ideas and creative planning. And then in a classic film dissolve, it will be time for the CCFF again! We will all be there!

Good gardening.

The thought of being outdoors in the bright sunlight and warmth is always something to look forward too. I love the thought of being outside and feeling healthier. One way that people are accomplishing this, and helping the community at the same time, is community gardening.

Bilde It is refreshing to see a beautiful garden baring lots of fruits and vegetables and what’s even more amazing is that it’s farmed by people like you and me: people in the community looking to make things better including what we eat and feed to our families. Not to mention looking to make our neighborhoods friendlier places to be by making connections while gardening.  Bommunitygarden

All of the specifics of how it’s done are right here on this link but what it boils down to is that you help to maintain not only a garden but a connection that helps future generations to realize that it’s not always dog eat dog out there. It can be Doug and his family shares his tomatoes with Dwayne and his family that share their cabbage too.

It’s time to go get signed up and get some sun on my face and dirt on my hands. See you there.

A night on the Old Town

A spring
These past couple days of sunshine have set in the spring fever for me. Not only is it getting prettier longer but there are a whole slew of wonderful events coming up that are sure to make your spirits        soar!  An old townA haze

So how do you beat that for a fantastic day? You take a tour of some amazing lofts in the Old Town area and take a gander at how marvelous it is. A loft

While you’re in Old Town you can make this moment not only a day for you and yours but you can help to provide for a family in need. Meijer and the OTCA are teaming up to help local food banks. Even though the two events are not combined, what a way to help those less fortunate while enjoying your time out and about.

To sum it up, come have fun, eat, drink and share the spirit of caring here in Lansing. See you there. A dish
