Two of mid-Michigan's standout athletes have picked their colleges. Holt soccer junior Josh Barens will sign with Michigan State next year, and East Lansing football senior Donald Akujobi will sign with Wayne State next month.
Barens made the Division 1 all-state second team last fall in leading Holt to its best season in recent memory and the CAAC Cup Division 1 championship. He has been considered one of the best players in his age group in the state.
Akujobi is a 6-foot-1, 217-pound outside linebacker with speed. He earned all-CAAC Blue honorable mention last season.
