Per the MHSAA, eight-man football is continuing to be discussed and could be put to a vote in May.
A planning committee will meet Thursday to develop a plan for the Representative Council's spring meeting May 3-5. The plan will include a minimum number of schools needed to sponsor the sport, enrollment limits for the division and effects it could have on current leagues with 11-player teams. A draft plan will be sent to Class C and D schools next week, before the planning committee meets again April 21.
At an earlier meeting, a group of schools agreed to play some reduced-player games on their own this fall. For the playoffs to begin under the MHSAA for 2010, the Representative Council would likely have to approve the sport this May, the MHSAA reported.
