The talk of Grand Ledge going undefeated this regular season can be put to rest. Although I have a feeling the Comets might be better for it by the time this season is done.
Although every team surely wants to go undefeated, thankfully this squashes the talk of the Comets doing so this regular season -- which placed an unfair amount of pressure on that team, as it would on any.
Grand Ledge is loaded, no question. But in baseball, where a pitcher can have a bad game, or a star pitcher can shut a team down, or one miscue can change things entirely, going an entire season without a loss is perhaps more difficult than in any sport.
And at the same time, there's nothing like an early-season loss -- even to a strong opponent as in this case -- to catalyze a team as it continues on to more important games.
