It's impossible to ignore four starters from the state semifinalist basketball team, one of the state's top cross country runners, and one of the area's best golfers boosting East Lansing's girls soccer lineup.
Seniors Kori Reinhart and Sami Tucker were four-year basketball players during the school's most successful stretch ever, while Klarissa Bell is a three-year varsity star and Zakiya Minifee a big part over the last two. Maddi Reeves was seventh at the Division 2 state cross country meet in the fall. And Bea Murray missed the top 10 by four strokes at the Division 2 state golf tournament. In fact, Cindy Uecker and Ali Epolito were also on the basketball team multiple seasons before not playing this past one.
"I think it gives them a certain tenacity, a certain self-confidence," East Lansing soccer coach Nick Archer said. "They're well-rounded athletes. It helps."
But it's also fair to assume Archer's soccer program had something to do with this too. The Trojans have been a local soccer powerhouse for a number of years, and arguably the most consistently-successful of the school's girls programs. Now, they're enjoying the fruits of other teams' successes as well.
