No surprises here. Grand Ledge dominates, with a significant side of Holt.
One thought before we get started: Someone will bring up that the best gymnasts don't compete for their high school teams, and that's fine. However, this is a high school team, based on the LSJ high school all-area teams. So there should be no confusion.
Here's what I've got so far:
Division 1
Meaghan McWhorter, Grand Ledge (2009) -- Named LSJ Gymnast of the Year her first three years of high school and was just edged as a senior when she was state runner-up. Won the individual state championship as both a sophomore and junior (38.6), and seven individual event state championships during her career. She is tied for the Division 1 state meet vault record.
Breanne Workman, Grand Ledge (2005, competed at Arizona) -- Made LSJ Dream Team in her only two seasons, as a freshman and sophomore. Was LSJ Gymnast of the Year in 2005 after winning the state title (38.425); was runner-up as a freshman.
Alexis Byington, Grand Ledge (2011) -- Earned what could be the first of multiple LSJ Gymnast of the Year awards by winning the state title last winter (38.3). Finished state runner-up as a freshman.
Megan Simon, Grand Ledge (2006) -- Named LSJ Gymnast of the Year and won the state title as a sophomore (38.45) after scoring a 38.05 at the team state meet as a freshman. She holds the Division 1 state meet bars record.
Angela Cosgrove, Grand Ledge (2000, Western Michigan) -- Finished second in two events and the all-around (38.125) at the state meet as a senior in being named LSJ Gymnast of the Year.
Division 2
Amy Schmidt, Grand Ledge (2003, dove at Michigan State) -- Won the Division 2 individual state title (37.225) as a senior after finishing seventh as a sophomore and second as a freshman.
Stephanie Mory, Haslett (2004, golfed at Illinois) -- Finished second in the Division 2 state meet as a sophomore (36.15) and fifth as a junior. Also was league meet runner-up in her final season.
Kelsey Pierce, Grand Ledge (2009) -- Finished third at the Division 2 state meet as a senior (36.9) after a seventh and fourth the prior two. Was a three-time LSJ Dream Team selection.
Maddie Burman, Grand Ledge (2010) -- Finished eighth at the Division 2 state meet last season after winning the state title as a sophomore (36.475). She also took third as a freshman.
Kelli Maxwell, Grand Ledge (2003, MSU) -- Made the LSJ Dream Team all four years and was Gymnast of the Year as a junior. After finishing fifth and fourth, respectively, in Division 2 her first two years, she moved up to Division 1 as a junior and finished sixth while claiming a vault state title for the third time. She also finished sixth in Division 1 as a senior (36.975).
Also in the conversation:
Elizabeth Sierminski, Holt (2007) -- Finished fourth in the Division 1 state all-around (37.65) as a senior and won the league meet. She took third at the state meet as a junior.
Kara Magnusson, East Lansing (2002, pole vaulted at MSU) -- Finished 15th at the Division 1 state meet as a freshman, seventh as a sophomore and 12th as a junior. She won the league title as a sophomore and junior and was the LSJ Gymnast of the Year in 2001.
Tiffany Heuhs, Holt (2005) -- Named LSJ Gymnast of the Year as a senior, when she finished Division 1 state runner-up (37.825).
Kenzie Nargang, St. Johns (2002) -- LSJ Dream Team selection as a junior and senior was second in the league meet as a junior and the champion as a senior (38.0), when she also took fifth on beam at the Division 1 state final.
MaryRose Hillstrom, Holt (2009, diving at Ohio) -- Finished third at the Division 1 state all-around as a sophomore (37.75).
Heather Brandenburg, Holt (2007) -- Finished 10th at the Division 1 state meet as a senior and eighth as a junior. She was also third at the league meet as a senior.

Ashley Nardone, Mason (2006) -- Made three State Journal Dream Teams and finished 18th in the Division 2 state meet as a senior (34.325).
Sami Byer, Holt (2006) Finished 18th at the Division 1 state meet as a senior (35.4) after qualifying individually in all four events. She also made the LSJ Dream Team as a junior.
Allison Haring, Grand Ledge (2004, dove at MSU) -- Made the LSJ Dream Team as both a senior and junior. She posted the area’s second-best score her final season (37.8) and was the league meet champion as a junior while finishing seventh at the Division 2 state meet.
Nicole Wood, Holt (2009) -- Finished second and third at her Division 2 regional the last two seasons, respectively, when she also finished 11th and 10th at the state meet. She made the LSJ Dream Team after both.
Lyndsy Carr, Holt (2001) -- Made the LSJ Dream Team her final two seasons, and had two top-six state places and a 10th all-around in Division 2 as a senior.
And the coach: Duane Haring, Grand Ledge -- He might not have claimed mid-Michigan’s first state championship, but gets the edge after winning the last two plus finishing runner-up twice. Also in the conversation: Holt’s Anne Witherill has to be there after winning that first area state title in 2007.
