One of mid-Michigan's top cross country teams could find itself ranked No. 1 in the state thanks to an impressive Saturday run.
5. Ionia boys cross country -- No surprise here. Ionia won again, this time at Lowell.
4. Haslett swimmer Tiffany Oricchio -- While Okemos dominates this sport locally, Oricchio matches up with the best around. She won the 200 and 100 freestyles in leading the Vikings to their own meet championship, and set a meet, pool and school record in the 100 (54.3).
3. Leslie runner Audrey Tremaine -- The Blackhawks girls won the Pittsford Invitational, which was split into four races, one per class. She set a course record for the sophomore race, winning it in 19:10.
2. Haslett soccer -- True, the Vikings only tied Holt. But it's a big deal because Holt is Division 1 while Haslett is Division 2, and the Vikings are the best they've been in a long time. The Rams have been considered the area's best all season long, but a rematch in the CAAC Cup could change things.
1. Williamston girls cross country -- The No. 4-ranked Hornets claimed the Division 2 race at the Jackson Invitational, in the process defeating No. 1 East Grand Rapids by a point.
