What would've been a great third match this fall between the Lakewood and DeWitt volleyball teams Wednesday night has been canceled due to illnesses on both teams. With so many schools closing lately amid a flood of absences, are you surprised more games haven't been canceled?
Not that I'm complaining. Postponements and cancellations create a lot of headaches for everyone.
But especially with a close-contact sport like football, I thought a few teams at least might cancel last week's season finales. Although schools were closed, I'm assuming practice went on.
I guarantee the players themselves would have voted to play regardless of the illnesses going around. But I wonder how much this possibility was at least discussed.
