This position remains so important we've usually gone with three of these on the annual LSJ Dream Team. We've got plenty to choose from over this decade.
My starters (so far): Chris Robinson, Ovid-Elsie (2010); Antoine Bagwell, East Lansing (2001, California-Pennsylvania); Brandon Dunn, Sexton (2006).
Other finalists: Issac Harper, East Lansing (2008, Saginaw Valley State); Cam Bramer, Olivet (2006, Central Michigan and Olivet College); Chad Richardson, Charlotte (2005, Findlay); Onaje Miller, Sexton (2010).
Best of the rest: Adam Powell, Fowlerville (2008); Anthony Scott, Okemos/Holt (2008); Tyler Reed, Holt (2006, Ferris State and Central Michigan); Anthony Brandon, Sexton (2005, Northwood); Jordan Coulter, Mason (2004); Jesse Bramer, Fulton (2004); Mike Adams, Waverly (2003); Brian McIntosh, Haslett (2005); Nathan Feldpausch, Fowler (2001); C.J. Jefferson, Fulton (2008); Brandon Smith, Portland (2005, Northern Michigan).
Numbers alone for this group are incredible. Robinson rushed for roughly 5,500 yards over the last two seasons alone and is one of the state's top runners all-time. Bagwell ran for roughly 3,400 yards and 41 TDs over his final two seasons -- when he both times was named the LSJ Defensive Player of the Year as a cornerback -- but is the best high school running back I've ever seen and has been to multiple NFL camps after ranking among the top Division II college runners ever. Dunn ran for 2,386 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior and was named the Great 8 top running back in Michigan.
Harper, both Bramers and Jefferson all ran for more than 2,000 yards in a season during the decade -- Harper breaking Randy Kinder's area record with 2,458 yards in 2007 before Robinson re-set it a season later. Richardson might be my next choice though. The 2004 LSJ Offensive Player of the Year ran for 1,046, passed for 732 and had 625 receiving yards as a senior, scoring 21 touchdowns total for a team that lost to Lowell in the state semifinals. But Miller, who broke Dunn's school TD record this fall, might be the best of the bunch when he finishes up next fall.
