I'm finishing up our annual Catch 22 football recruiting package for Sunday's paper, and two of the quarterbacks we're focusing on are Inkster's Devin Gardner and Saline's Joe Boisture -- who both skipped the final semesters of high school to enroll early at their respective colleges.
I know this has been debated plenty, but it still got me thinking about whether or not I would've done the same.
Of course, college life is a blast and some competitive athletes look forward to getting into their new programs as soon as possible. And this type of early enrollment has been a growing trend for probably most of this decade.
But if a player ends up not becoming a big star, or even a starter down the road, was it really worth missing that final semester of high school life? I would assume no, but then again, I was never in that position. What do you think?
