Getting something together for the end of the year, I was taken a bit by surprise by this fact: Of 29 sports with state finals run by the MHSAA, mid-Michigan teams won titles in 11 sports, plus a 12th in non-MHSAA girls water polo.
Another impressive fact: The MHSAA has 15 girls sports, and area girls teams won state titles in eight during 2010.
Maybe they're not, but both on first impression seemed like especially strong showings for this area.
