A week out from the start of class, it's time to bring back our daily posting of high school sports results, and our top four performances of the day.
Remember, those chosen each day become candidates for Athlete of the Week. And if I miss someone, post below and let me know.
FOUR STARS
4. Alma soccer junior Trevor Rice: Scored three goals as the Panthers downed Ovid-Elsie 4-1. Those two teams tied for second in the TVC last season, and Alma is now the favorite to push Freeland for the title.
3. Haslett golf senior Chelsea Root: Shot an 80 to finish first individually at the CAAC Red preseason tournament at Forest Akers East. Teammate Erin Lawrence finished second with an 81.
2. Holt golf sophomore Pader Her: Continued strong August with a fourth-place 82 at the Brighton Invitational, as her Rams finished third as a team. Holt is ranked No. 3 in the state Division 1 poll.
1. St. Johns soccer senior Dane Bergstrom: Scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over reigning Division 3 state runner-up Lansing Catholic, off a pass from senior Sam Hanover.
