(Scott Yoshonis) Here are the pairings for the second round of the CAAC Volleyball Tournament:

Tier 1 (Semifinals Tuesday, final Thursday):

Haslett at Grand Ledge (winner hosts Final)

Lakewood at DeWitt

Consolation bracket:

Lumen Christi at Williamston (Winner hosts consolation final, i.e., fifth-place game)

Holt at Jackson

Tier 2 (Semifinals tonight, final Wednesday):

Charlotte at St. Johns (winner hosts Final)

Portland at Fowlerville

Consolation bracket:

Okemos at Corunna (Winner hosts consolation final, i.e., fifth-place game)

Jackson Northwest at East Lansing

The JV and freshmen games start at 5 p.m., with the Varsity matches immediately following, at about 6:30 p.m.

High school sports editor Dick Hoekstra has worked for the Lansing State Journal in some capacity for 20 of the past 21 years since he moved to Lansing. He has written stories about nearly every high school sport, but has been primarily responsible for high school cross country and track and field coverage in recent years. For his coverage, Hoekstra was presented with the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association (MITCA) 2004 Finish Line Award for outstanding contributions to the sport of cross country as well as the 2006 Eddy Award by the Honor Roll Track and Field Meet committee for outstanding contributions in advancing youth and high school track and field in the Lansing and Mid-Michigan area.
