Food Bank Volunteers Honored

Two dedicated Mid-Michigan Food Bank volunteers, Betty Noverr of East Lansing, and Pauline Vanek of Lansing, recently received President's Volunteer Service Awards.

African American Parade held in September

We’ve usually read something on the African American Parade and Festival by now.

But the Rev. Michael Murphy, founder of the event, called a couple of days ago to tell me that the parade, which is usually held in August, will take place on Sept. 26 this year.

"The Mayor" is back!

Brant Johnson, formerly known as the “Mayor of Lansing Radio,” is back – this time with his own TV show.

 The Brant Johnson Television Show debuts on July 18 at 9 a.m. on My18 TV, and will be shown again July 23 at 11 a.m.

Blue Star Moms helping troops

The DeWitt chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America has been busy supporting our troops overseas. The group, which now has between 12 and 15 members, recently collected donations at Sam’s where they filled three shopping carts of items to put into care packages to send our troops. And one of the mothers involved makes lap quilts for veterans in Grand Rapids.
