But the Rev. Michael
Murphy, founder of the event, called a couple of days ago to tell me that the
parade, which is usually held in August, will take place on Sept. 26 this year.

The DeWitt chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America has been busy supporting
our troops overseas. The group, which now has between 12 and 15 members, recently
collected donations at Sam’s where they filled three shopping carts of items to
put into care packages to send our troops. And one of the mothers involved
makes lap quilts for veterans in Grand Rapids.
