All three backs, Caper, Baker and newcomer to the party Leggett, are listed as co-starters. Last week's fill-ins at safety, Trenton Robinson and Kendell Davis-Clark, are still listed ahead of Danny Fortener and Marcus Hyde.

Tom Izzo looked a bit, shall we say, downtrodden after tonight's 76-53 exhibition win over Grand Valley State.

Late buckets for MSU to push the lead past 20. Lucas with 18 and four assists. Green with 15 and 11 boards. Lucious with 12 points.

Zog steps up

Tom Herzog just had a nice stretch, an offensive rebound and kickout for a Dahlman three, then a swat of a jump shot, then a dribble to the middle, turn and baby hook.

GVSU making a run

It's down to 56-45 with 7:21 left, and GVSU has a foul shot after the break to try to convert a 3-point play. MSU is missing on several easy chances, to go with turnovers and some questionable defense.

Izzo gets his first T

GVSU's Mike Przydzial just slammed Garrick Sherman to the floor, behind the action on the MSU side, and the official didn't see it. Izzo went ballistic and Jim Burr hit him with a technical. Sherman's fine, by the way.

MSU 44-28, 15:12 left

Summers is back on the court (so MSU has three of its top six players), and the Spartans started the second with a flurry.

Summers update

Elbow to the eye, he's taking part in layup drills right now so it looks like he might return. The eye doesn't look too bad.

Halftime: MSU 31, GVSU 21

Lucious hit a corner three and Lucas found Herzog for a fast-break layup, but then the Lakers drilled a long triple at the buzzer. We'll see if we can find anything out about Summers.
