Normally, Blair White being named a first team Academic All-American -- becoming MSU's first since Steve Wasylk in 1993 -- would be big news. But Glenn Winston has been quite the newsmaker over the past year, hasn't he?

Jones splits defensive POY

The media picked Greg Jones as the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Year, while the coaches went with Penn State DT Jared Odrick -- who didn't even make first team All-Big Ten in the media voting!

MSU MVP: Swenson

Here's the full release of award winners from tonight's end-of-year MSU football banquet. The kicker upset the middle linebacker, in an award voted on by the players and coaches.

Too much story for a game like this

Tom Izzo tied Jud Heathcote's MSU record with 340 wins, then hopped on a plane to join Jud at his hall of fame induction. The Valpo game was originally scheduled at 4 p.m., but Izzo convinced the Big Ten Network to move it up to noon so he could get to Kansas City.

Raymar Morgan starting

At the four, with Garrick Sherman at the five. The plan is to keep Morgan mostly at the four today, to cut down a bit on the running around on the perimeter.

Take a deep breath

A few things I'm fairly certain in saying:
This was a disappointing season for MSU football. MSU's defense is the main reason why, but the offense was the primary culprit Saturday. Mark Dantonio will be the head coach for a long time and will have better teams than this one in 2010 and 2011. And MSU will not be playing in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit.

Jimmerson gets the start

On senior day, it'll be A.J. Jimmerson starting at running back. The only other change on the depth chart is Brandon Denson back in the starting lineup. Darn near balmy day here, little wind, both quarterbacks should be loving this.

A look at Trevor Anderson and the bowl scene

First, Tom Izzo upset after a November game. Crazy. Next, for our final Gameday of the regular season, we focused on Trevor Anderson, one of 19 seniors who will be honored before the game today. He has quite a story.

Toledo impressions

The good: Chris Allen tops the list. Shooting without hesitation and hitting shots. That's the best thing MSU takes from this game, in my opinion.

Lucas, Allen, Summers, Roe and Green. Going small, or at least going without a true center.
