Bloomington, IN, 11:46 a.m.

Twenty-five minutes until kickoff here at Memorial Stadium. MSU receiver Matt Trannon is in uniform and has been warming up after missing the past two games with an ankle injury. He looks pretty good running and cutting, perhaps a bit ginger but it looks like he'll be able to play some. Freshman T.J. Williams is still listed as the starter in front of him.

The depth chart also lists Pete Clifford as the starter at left guard, but Kenny Shane was repping with the starters in pre-game warmups. Rocco Cironi gets his second start at left tackle. If Cironi falters, Clifford will be ready to spell him as he did for a couple series last week at Northwestern. And Clifford will probably rotate with Shane at guard. But I'm not surprised to see Shane with the ones right now. If he's healthy, I think he's definitely one of MSU's top five linemen.

The crowd looks typically sparse, but Indy Star IU beat writer Terry Hutchens just told me they might hit 50,000 today -- with 40,000 sold as of Friday and a walk-up crowd of 6,000-10,000 anticipated. It's a perfect, cloudless afternoon. A great day for college football. I think we're about to see a pretty exciting , competitive game with a lot more offense than defense.
