Live from Citrus Bowl Stadium
Sixty-six minutes until kickoff, and after an unintentional, winding trip around the entire stadium, one thing is clear: Michigan State will have a gigantic homefield advantage for this game.
For a minute there, I thought I was walking by the tennis courts on campus. The MSU tailgates are in full swing. Meanwhile, I had trouble locating more than a smattering of BC fans. MSU is wearing its home uniforms for this game, which is appropriate.

well good 'ole dan patrick just called us michigan

Well, well, well ... Hoyer's doing his usual crappy job at QB. This game could be 14-0, Spartans, right now; instead? It's only 7-7.
Hoyer took away a TD from us by throwing an INT in the red zone, and he gave BC a TD by fumbling on his own 10-yard line. IDIOT.
This team is never going ANYWHERE with Hoyer at QB.

PATHETIC!!

Let's not panic just yet.

Please tell me why on 3rd and 9, you through a 4 yard pass? Anybody know?
Posted by: t | December 28, 2007 at 05:56 PM
Let's not forget where this program was this time in 06, 05, 04.
Posted by: PersianSpartan | December 28, 2007 at 05:58 PM
I think you mean Mike Patrick. He's a friggin' idiot, too. Never has an original thought; complete PARROT.
Hoyer throws short on 3-and-9, because he always locks onto one guy. Watch his head/eyes: if the primary guy is covered, he doesn't know what to do. He can't read defenses, his touch sucks, his accuracy downfield is a joke, and he has NO FIELD PRESENCE at all, which is why he gets sacked all the time.
Settling for mediocrity is NOT what this program needs. The basketball and hockey teams have won NCAA titles this decade; the football team has no excuses.

Great, now MSU is losing by seven, because Hoyer's an idiot and the secondary STILL can't cover anyone. #38 really is a joke of a CB; why he even gets to suit up every week is beyond me.
Posted by: Joe | December 28, 2007 at 06:04 PM
Mediocrity? BC is #14 in the country. Spartans aren't out there playing against a HS team. Realism beats psychosis any day of the week. Get a grip Jose:)
Posted by: PersianSpartan | December 28, 2007 at 06:06 PM
If MSU loses, they will finish 7-6. That *is* mediocre.
If they win, they will be 8-5, and that is pretty good considering all five losses would have been by seven points or less (including two in OT).
Hoyer's mistakes cost this team EVERY game, and when you're losing close games, it's not hard to figure out why.
Posted by: Joe | December 28, 2007 at 06:16 PM
HOYER SUCKS.
My god, he's a f**kin' joke. He has single-handedly provided a 21-point swing in the first half ALONE.
It could be 21-7, MSU, right now, if it wasn't for Hoyer's ineptitude.
GRRRRRR.

The first half is history and once again Treadwell and Hoyer are blowing it for the good guys. All year long Hoyer can't look the "D" off, and continues to stare at one receiver. Treadwell's play calling is SUSPECT!! 1:29 to go in the half, momentum your way after an interception, three timeouts, deep in BC territory. Treadwell calls a pass to the TE....and gets the thing picked. WHAT THE HELL, Treadwell? Run the ball, use the timeouts, bleed the clock, and get 3 at least. All this to show how stupid Treadwell is, how mediocre Hoyer really is, and how far we have to go. Let's hope MD can talk some sense into Treadwell over the break. The MSU D is holding up well. Hoyer and Treadwell are losing this one so far.

Hoyer is a head case. This is disgusting. Get a backup warming up on the sidelines; Hoyer is single-handedly losing this game. Some of us told you people that he was a head case, but a couple of Joey Harrington-type successes turned your heads. 2008: A sane quarterback, please.

gametrack has the infamous tj williams rushing for -1 yards, hope somebody else is wearing his jersey
Posted by: Spartan Alum in Florida | December 28, 2007 at 06:51 PM
Hoyer is simplying not the quarterback for MSU. He commits the cardinal mistake of all mediocre quarterbacks - failing to look off your primary target. The great ones always look away before going to their primary. Warm up Connor Dixson before we totally give this game away.

LOL I'll bet all you people were saying the same thing after the first half of the Penn State game.
Posted by: ROB | December 28, 2007 at 06:57 PM
Will somebody tell that idiot Hoyer -
BC has a safety that is going to be playing on Sundays.
So he can't stare down his receiver on every passing down
& his play fakes are a joke.
I haven't an MSU QB this inaccurate & unpolished in a long time.
Does anybody know if a Pop Warner QB in the Lansing area who might be down in Orlando w/ his family for the game who could sub for Hoyer in the 2nd half? Make the call . . .
Hoyer should just shag his inept ass back to Cleveland where it belongs.
I pray everyday (like Coach D) that he will get a stud QB to commit to MSU.
Hoyer blows . . .
Posted by: Help! | December 28, 2007 at 06:58 PM
BC is not Penn State. Once again, we're lucky that end zone pass wasn't picked off. Instead of patting Hoyer on the head somebody ought to smack him upside the head!
Posted by: spartanalumni | December 28, 2007 at 07:16 PM
to quote the arizona coach of last year, "they are who we thought they were"
Posted by: Spartan Alum in Florida | December 28, 2007 at 07:23 PM
Hoyer reminds me of the Spartan QB in 1997, Todd Schulz (spelling?). He can't win games for you; he can only lose them for you.
Posted by: Joe | December 28, 2007 at 07:29 PM
Notice how the TV commentators are now saying what I said here in the first half? Hoyer just stares at his primary receiver all the time. He's an idiot.
Three INTs, plus a lost fumble, for Hoyer. What a tool ...
Posted by: Joe | December 28, 2007 at 07:31 PM
OMG!! Get Hoyer out NOW!! Dixon can't possibly be any worse.
Posted by: spartanalumni | December 28, 2007 at 07:32 PM
Someone have a scope rifle at Citrus Bowl Stadium aimed at #7 in green yet??? Hoyer is a joke...
Posted by: BeantownSparty | December 28, 2007 at 07:32 PM
Now that State is one-dimensional... this game is over!!!
Posted by: BeantownSparty | December 28, 2007 at 07:36 PM
Hey Rob, the Spartans can still win this game. But if they had a better QB, it would be 31-10 or something right now.
And we'd all be breathing more easily. Instead? We have to sweat out wins with Hoyer at QB -- or losses, as it were.
