The Magic of business
Finally got around to reading this story about Earvin Johnson and his inner-city-based business empire. It's worth a few minutes of your time.
His success off the court has been a popular story since his playing days, but the sheer volume -- $700 million, 85 cities, 21 states -- reported in this story comes as a surprise to me. Can anyone think of a pro athlete who has been nearly as successful after his playing career?

IMHO no one can compare to Magic whether it is on or off the court. He is truly a unique individual and a credit to MSU. Cannot say enough good about this great man.

Magic Johnson as a basketball player was a genius, yes like:Mozart,Einstein...He did things on the court that had refs scratching their heads and scrambling to keep up.Remember Magic was not the athlete Jordan was but he stands alone in the cerebral area.
I had a girl friend at MSU who was a math specialist (I don't know about genius in that area)but she could not teach it:I think that was the case with Magic. If he could bottle what came naturally to him he would make an equal amount of $$$$$$$$$$.
Magic actually caught up with Jordan who was worth 500 million+ for some time.I'm sure many can not fatham Magic being able to negotiate such an empire, but woolaaa here he is.All of us Spartans could not be more proud of Magic,now...Hey Magic I got this brilliant IDEA that will make me and you millions more please contact me...Ha,how many of us have those ideas...

It would be quite a statement if we could attract at least four of these Offensive line men (hope for 6)right here from Michigan to block for these outstanding running backs we have coming soon. You always go for the very best you can get (always stay close to Chicago),but having 2+ run backs over 1K yrds a year is impressive and equals wins...

I remember a couple of Magic Johnson businesses in Lansing going under in the early stages of his career. I was still young then, but one was one E. Michigan near an old QD. If he is that successful, then it bodes well for all that have auspicious beginnings.

I can remember Magic doing radio endorsements for QD! It was something about a "double dribble doughnut" I believe.

The best thing about this article is that his HIV status is mentioned almost as an afterthought.
