Waterworld update
Was that a Disney movie? Nice work, Costner. It's 2:04 p.m. and the game will resume in about six minutes. Apparently, the roof wasn't leaking, water was blowing in through the ventilation system, and the problem is fixed. The tornado warning has passed. Maybe these teams will start hitting some shots now.

And the Spartans are drowning in their own ineptitude.....

at the half, shooting 33%, 12.5% from 3, and 3/7 foul shots - worse than the Md game.

And I've seen enough of Austin Thorton, please Tom, keep him out of the game!

Ideally the MSU offense goes through the savvy hands of a boy named G. Suton. This tourney has proved his value. Without him, everything goes from out to in, and it doesn't work quite the same.

at least gray is showing signs of life...if morgon doesn't play well on offense msu struggles that much is evident. i am willing to bet msu will turn it around in the second half.

they closed the ventilation system which is going to cause an increase in temperature inside the milk house. msu should press and use their depth to wear out wichita state.

Roe is the best player on the Spartans right now, and he is only 70%. He understands the game, and has excellent court vision. I can't wait to see him at 100%.
What is wrong with Lucas? He has looked terrible this year.

scott skiles:
yeah he is playing with two knee braces on.

With all of this incredible depth, how are we struggling so much by losing just one player?

Not the way we wanted to go 2-1 in the Old Spice, but I don't think there was any other way we could have finished 2-1 if we didn't lose that first game.

Scott Skiles, I was thinking the same thing watching the game. State loses by 20-25 points on Wednesday, in a game similar to the Memphis lose last year. I do think State will be tough once Roe is 100%, Suton comes back and they get a steady playing group. I have also been pleasantly surprised by Walton's shooting, and hope that it translates into the rest of the season. Traditionally State makes big strides over the Christmas break. I just hope big loses on national tv to Carolina and Texas don't crush the team mentally is it did in 03-04. GO STATE!!!

I'm not sure what to expect in the NC game. Izzo teams usually play well against top-notch opponents, especially when they are the underdog. I think the Memphis debacle was partly due to a team coming in and believing the pundits, many of who were predicting a Spartan upset. That made Memphis mad and the Spartans lacked the desperation and focus you need to win these games. That will not happen now that this team has hit some bumps. They will focus and prepare this week. Unfortunately, NC won't be taking us lightly, they know a loss to MD can happen to a good team. The key will be taking care of the ball. I know this team wants to run, but I'm not sure that they can do that against NC without turning the ball over frequently. I'm predicting a close game Our team D is just not in synch right now, and if NC has just an average night shooting the ball, we lose.

until THEY learn how to guard people, they ain't beating anybody.

The defense is horrible right now. Worst D I have seen from a Izzo team, ever. At least they got some rebounds today, which is an effort stat.
