This MSU-Michigan recruiting stuff is always good for some banter, and today we have more fodder.
Here's an interesting take in our sister paper, from a recruiting analyst who covers Michigan. Fighting to regain in-state supremacy? Honestly, I think that's overstating the situation a bit, but it reflects a growing perception.
And then in this Q&A with Rodriguez, the same perception is floated, with a snappy retort.
The funny thing about all this arguing about "three-star" and "four-star" 17-year-olds is that it will never directly be resolved. Many of them will never be heard from, most of them will take time to make an impact, and by then the focus will be on kids who are just now entering high school.

Does Cousins have a cousin we can recruit?

"Many of them will never be heard from, most of them will take time to make an impact, and by then the focus will be on kids who are just now entering high school."
Recruiting buzz kill, but well stated.
Now how will we football fans occupy ourselves during the off season?

a recruiting coup is tough to pull off essentialy because a kid gets an extra star for just being recruited by a traditional power like UofM or Notre Dame. its strange that noone makes a connection between Notre Dames terrible performance over the last few years and the fact that they have had top recruiting classes for the last decade! obviously recruiting does not mean success is a given. thus making it really a silly debate.

It may not mean success, however, it is vital for Michigan State to be competitive in-state if they are going to win on the field. If MSU has to resort to going out of state(ie. John L) then we will be getting other states kids that aren't Big Ten calibar players. Its much easier to compete in-state then it is to snag top talent from across the country.

More recruiting work for the LSJ tonight.. Chelsea RB Nick Hill commits to MSU!

Is the commitment of Nick Hill for real, or is it just a conjecture or maybe a joke.
Because he would really help in our quest to acuire in-state supremacy.
Could anyone confirm this?

Good recruiting doesn't guarantee winning, but poor recruiting pretty much seals your lowly fate.
