Preseason depth chart

Some interesting stuff on the MSU depth chart released today:

    * At running back, the starter is listed as Ashton Leggett OR Caulton Ray. Then it's Andre Anderson OR A.J. Jimmerson. This makes sense considering what we saw in spring ball.

    * Blair White and Mark Dell are listed as the starting receivers. B.J. Cunningham is Dell's backup at the X, and Keshawn Martin is White's backup at the Z.

    * Quarterback is Cousins OR Nichol, and the offensive line is as expected with Jared McGaha at starting right guard and J'Michael Deane at starting right tackle. Brendon Moss is listed as the backup at left tackle, with Chris McDonald No. 2 at right guard and Mike Schmeding No. 2 at right tackle. That's certainly up for shuffling.

    * Trenton Robinson is the starter at free safety. At strong safety, it's Dan Fortener OR Marcus Hyde. Kendell Davis-Clark is listed as Robinson's backup. Very interesting.

    * Kevin Pickelman is the starter ahead of Jerel Worthy at defensive tackle.

    * At defensive end opposite Trevor Anderson, it's Colin Neely OR David Rolf.

    Remember, the preseason depth chart does not include any true freshmen, except for guys who enrolled early: Patrick White (No. 3 cornerback) and Donald Spencer (No. 4 X receiver, right behind Fred Smith).
