On the schedule
First of all, if you're going to the MSU-Michigan game at the Joe on Saturday, don't miss on the Shoot for a Cure silent auction that will raise money for Cure Kids Cancer at Sparrow Hospital and Brandon's Defense -- the foundation named after the late Brandon Gordon of DeWitt.
According to Jamie Weir, MSU's director of athletic communications, several former Spartans were involved in gathering the items. Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader walked out of the Red Wings locker room Tuesday night with seven autographed sticks.
Earlier Saturday, the MSU gymnastics team will have its fourth annual Jan Howard Flip for a Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Meet, at 1 at Jenison (No. 22 MSU vs. No. 25 Ohio State). Included will be the auction of a guitar signed by Melissa Etheridge, herself a breast cancer survivor. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Also, Saturday night, MSU's coaches will be wearing sneakers with their suits for Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend. More info on that here.
Down the road, the Big Ten announced today that the MSU-Ohio State men's basketball clash will be a noon CBS game on Sunday, Feb. 21. No surprise there.
