A terrible sight
No word yet on Purdue's Robbie Hummel, who suffered what could be a season-ending knee injury Wednesday night at Minnesota.
Matt Painter was supposed to have a teleconference Thursday morning, but it was moved back to Friday. Here's a recap of the game and of what is known so far on the injury. I believe it was dmbtierney who mentioned that this looked like Glenn Winston's knee injury at Illinois. I agree. It looked serious, hopefully it's just a sprain, but it looked serious.
This is a team that is on the cusp of its first Big Ten title since 1996, and with Hummel has a great shot at its first Final Four since 1980, the year before Gene Keady arrived. Now that may all be lost. I'll be shocked if Hummel plays Sunday against Michigan State (I still like the Boilers, by the way, on their home floor and rallying around their lost teammate), but if Purdue -- and college basketball -- is lucky, maybe he can get back for the NCAAs.
Meanwhile, in Spartanland, MSU needs Delvon Roe to get over the nagging injuries and finish strong this season.
