Three-day warning: Duffy honor for Tressel

For those in the mid-Michigan area, tickets are still available for the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award ceremony, which will honor Ohio State's Jim Tressel on Thursday night at Eagle Eye Golf Club in East Lansing.

Tickets are $50 apiece or $400 for a table of eight, and the price includes dinner (call 517-853-0670 or go to duffydaugherty.org). The doors open at 5:30 and the program starts at 7. Jackson Lumen Christi coach Herb Brogan will receive the award for high school achievement, and Ovid-Elsie running back Chris Robinson will receive a scholarship award for his excellence on and off the field.

MSU's football coaching staff and a lot of other people in the MSU football community are there every year, and you can typically count on some great stories and speeches. Considering this MSU staff's relationship with Tressel, Thursday should be an especially entertaining and interesting night. The fact that LSJ prep editor Geoff Kimmerly is presenting the award to Robinson might just put it over the top.
