Good season, tough finish

In case you missed it, the MSU baseball team came up an inning short of making the Big Ten Tournament and playing for the one NCAA bid that the Big Ten will get this year.

Considering the nonleague performance and the 34 wins, MSU had one of the best seasons among league teams -- then a sweep at the hands of Penn State changed everything for a team that was right there for the title most of the way. It's also one of the best seasons in recent MSU memory, no consolation for the Spartans at this time, but a definite step forward under Jake Boss Jr. nonetheless.
