Vitale honors Izzo, raises $1M-plus to fight cancer

Michigan natives Tom Izzo -- introduced by Earvin "Magic" Johnson -- and Tony Dungy were the guests of honor Friday night at Dick Vitale's annual event to benefit the V Foundation and cancer research.

More than $1 million raised this year, which is pretty amazing for one evening in Sarasota. Say what you will about Vitale, he's serious about this cause and doing all he can to advance it.

Vitale tweeted about Johnson's speech introducing Izzo, and he also mentioned in a tweet that John Calipari, Bruce Pearl and Roy Williams were enjoying stories from Kenny Chesney's dad, a former high school hoops coach.

That made me wonder, were any recruiting stories swapped there? In case you missed it, Calipari has another story to tell -- a recruiting score that has some people upset and others skeptical. Amazing charisma on the recruiting trail, that Calipari.
