Big Ten NFL All-Defense
As promised.
Top Ten Position-Specific Defensive Pros From Big Ten Teams Plus One (Big Ten NFL All-Defense). Again, no Nebraska, although looking at Nebraska history, the Huskers wouldn't land anyone on either of these teams. Lots of great college players, obviously, and many who became good pros (Broderick Thomas, Irving Fryar, Mike Rozier, for example).
As for Penn State, they're in, pre-1993 and all. Our team is a 3-4 and the Hall of Fame is a prerequisite.
DE: Carl Eller, Minnesota
DT: Bill Willis, Ohio State
DE: Len Ford, Michigan
LB: Dick Butkus, Illinois
LB: Bobby Bell, Minnesota (played end and OLB, better known for his LB work)
LB: Jack Ham, Penn State
LB: Ray Nitschke, Illinois
CB: Herb Adderley, MSU (teamed with Nitschke on those great Packers defenses of the late 1960s)
CB: Dick LeBeau, Ohio State
S: Rod Woodson, Purdue (yeah, he played mostly cornerback, but how awesome will this defense be with Woodson at safety?)
S: Paul Krause, Iowa
Among the non-HOF guys considered: Bubba Smith, MSU; Jack Tatum, OSU; Chris Spielman, OSU.
