MSU POW streak alive
For the fourth time in four weeks, an MSU player has received a weekly Big Ten honor. This time it's Greg Jones, sharing Defensive Player of the Week for his two-pick afternoon against Northern Colorado.
White and Bell make up one of several interesting story lines for Saturday's Big Ten opener. Also today, ABC has decided to take MSU at Michigan for its 3:30 p.m. game on Oct. 9. No surprise there, it's the best league game of that day by far.
Now, links:
* MSU's defense is a work in progress, but the Spartans are forcing turnovers unlike last season.
* NoCol game stuff that I failed to link earlier: a gamer, a Solari column on Mark Dantonio's chance to tend to what's really important , a notebook and a report card.
* In Badgerland, here's another voice questioning the rationale for charging full price for a game like Wisconsin-Austin Peay. And here's another -- all we can do is keep complaining until someone listens. On the field, the Badgers should be close to full strength for the MSU game, although the loss of LB Chris Borland for the season is a huge one.
* As the Big Ten season gets under way, one seat in particular is so hot it's giving off smoke.
* Finally, thanks to Mike Klocke for alerting me to this story on Blair White setting up his first NFL touchdown by suggesting a route adjustment to Peyton Manning. Here's much more on what became the sidebar angle du jour from Indy's win. Way to speak up, rookie. Way to listen, Hall of Famer.
