Agent to SI: Banks took money at MSU

In a revealing story with potentially major ramifications, agent Josh Luchs names names including former MSU quarterback Tony Banks.

Here's the sum of what he said about Banks (who had no comment for SI's story) in the story:

"Michigan State's Tony Banks, the first quarterback taken in the '96 draft, was another client. Doc had known Tony since he was a little kid and had represented his uncle, former USC and NFL linebacker Chip Banks. We paid Tony several hundred dollars a month."

For the record, MSU associate AD John Lewandowski confirmed tonight with associate AD for compliance Jennifer Smith that the NCAA's four-year statute of limitations means there's no chance of the NCAA investigating MSU for what may have happened during that time period (George Perles coached Banks, a JUCO transfer, in 1994 and Nick Saban coached him as a senior in 1995). That's true of all the schools named in the story.
