"Si, estayo. Now what do you want me to do?"
Well, things looked good for Missouri this morning. But Matt Painter is staying at Purdue after all. And that's a good thing for Purdue and the Big Ten.
Interesting comments from Gene Keady (the link is updated above) on how Painter's biggest issue wasn't his own salary, but overall support from the athletic department. Painter has not been able to follow up on his great recruiting class of 2007 (and MSU delivered a big blow to his plans when it snatched Branden Dawson out of Gary last summer), but Purdue should be decent next season with Lewis Jackson, Robbie Hummel and a good core of role players -- and Painter has minutes available for some blue chippers. He has built a foundation at Purdue and it would have been a shame to see him go to a lesser job because he and his AD aren't on the same page.
