Rings and draft reactions

Here's how MSU's Big Ten championship ring looks:

    That's a big ring.

Here are some thoughts from MSU's draftees:

    Greg Jones:
“It has been a stressful three days, but I feel both relieved and excited. All of my hard work has paid off, and now, I’m excited to have the opportunity to pursue my dream of playing in the NFL. A lot of teams passed on me, but I’m hungrier than ever to prove myself. I wasn’t highly recruited coming out of high school, but yet I became a four-year starter and an All-American."

“I could really hear the excitement in the voices of (General Manager) Jerry Reese and (head coach) Tom Coughlin. They really liked me and they feel like I can have an impact right away, both on defense and on special teams."

“I’ll never regret my decision that I made to return to Michigan State for my senior year. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the program over the last four years, and ultimately those things resulted in a Big Ten Championship last year. I’m so thankful to all of the people at Michigan State, who have supported me during this journey to the NFL. I wouldn’t trade my last four years for anything.”

Chris  L. Rucker

“They liked the way I played the game. They felt that my style of play really fit into their defensive scheme. They want me to try and come in and help the team right away."

“It is a great honor, a great organization – great ownership, great management. It is a winning team, and it is an honor for them to choose me and for me to now go to Indianapolis and try to help the team."

“I talked with Blair (White) a little already about the organization, and he said that I need to expect to work hard and to come ready to play."

“I think I have progressed a lot. Coming in, I was a young man and now I am a man. I have learned so much throughout my years at Michigan State that I can use for the rest of my life. I am really appreciated my time at MSU and it will always have a special place in my heart."

“My expectations were to just get the opportunity. No matter where or when I went, I just wanted the opportunity. I just wanted the opportunity to go out there and show what I can do and prove myself. It has been a long week, but I am happy to know that I am going to the Indianapolis Colts."

Rucker is being described as a "risky pick." Meanwhile, there's "certainly an opening" at middle linebacker in New York.
