Appling makes U19 squad

Soon-to-be Michigan State sophomore guard Keith Appling has been named to the 2011 USA Basketball U19 World Championship squad. Appling will be part of a 12-man roster that will play in the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Latvia. The tournament starts June 30 and runs until July 10.

Michigan's Tim Hardaway, Jr. also made the team. The squad will be coached by newly-named George Mason coach and former Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt.

The team will complete its domestic training Thursday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. and then depart for Europe on June 24.
