Gameday: Nebraska

It's a big one here in Lincoln today, and you should probably get used to that. These teams are pretty evenly matched. This was the easiest MSU loss to predict in the preseason, but it's a toss-up now and I've been flipped. Be afraid.

To simplify it, this game comes down to the rushing attacks in my mind. Can MSU hold Nebraska under 200 and put Taylor Martinez in obvious passing situations? Can Nebraska make the Spartans one-dimensional? If MSU defends the way it did against U-M (sans the personal fouls), I like the Spartans' chances.

Martinez is “stronger and a more physical runner than Denard is," Jerel Worthy said. "But at the same time they kind of have some similarities in how they run their scheme. Both quarterbacks like to have the ball in their hands, they’re the best playmakers they have on their team. We’ve just got to go out there and contain him. We know that him being a good player, he’s gonna make his plays but we hope to have more plays made than he does.”

One big difference between Martinez and Robinson -- Robinson doesn't have a horse like Rex Burkhead behind him.

Fascinating day ahead at Memorial Stadium. I'll check in from there later with any roster items and some thoughts on the atmosphere. The forecast calls for sun and temps in the mid-60s, and the wind is supposed to climb from 10 mph at kickoff to 15-16 mph by the fourth quarter. So it shouldn't be a huge factor.
